CANAAN 04

Episode 04 (8/10 Great)

Impression:

The characters and their relationships are slowly getting interesting. The animation is crisp most of the time. The clichés exist, but aren’t overpowering. But, either the writers have a horrible sense of suspense or the story is nonexistent. Things are happening, but there’s no consistency. We know very little about our characters, which isn’t too bad a sin, but we need a more solid plotline. You can’t conceal everything; you must give your viewers/readers something to go on. Why are they there? What are their goals? And, was last episode’s plot relevant to the main story? I’m not sure it was. Also, Maria is weirdly obsessed with “normality.” Give me more plot! Don’t end up with Bakemonogatari and Taishou Yakyuu Musume!

Suggestive Content:

Mino discusses the politics of breast size. The secretary of the snakes finds pleasure in being hit by the bullets. There’s a casual mention of sex.

Rating:

Animation: 8.5/10

Characters: 7/10

Writing: 6/10 – Better this episode, but totally inconsistent.

Pacing: 5/10

Enjoyment: 8/10
