First Look @ Kuroneko

Episode 01 (6/10 Good)

Impression:

This isn’t much; just a fwip of whipped cream – something light, not even a snack. I love cats, that’s why I’m watching it. The art isn’t much, but the way it’s animated earns it a 7 in my rating. I’ll probably blog the episodes in groups, or maybe just post the screen caps and some thoughts. I feel pretty sorry for that old, sick cat; and yet, seeing him makes me laugh a little. I hope he’ll have a sarcastic, funny personality.

Genre: a 3-minute blurb about cats

Suggestive Content:

None.

First Look @ Geijutsuka Art Design Class

Episode 01 (7/10 I liked it!)

Impression:

I may be questioned or even made fun of for this, but I really like this show. Despite that the characters are cookie cuts of the average anime dough. Despite the fact there’s no plot. Despite this is purely a gag anime. Shows like this are nice to watch sometimes. It actually is quite educational; at least, I learned a bit about art techniques. It’s not as good as Sketchbook Full Colors, but it is much better than Hidamari Sketch – what else would you expect from the director of Kodocha! So, is this going to be some intellectual, psychological blockbuster? No, but I’m going to enjoy it. I suggest you do, too.

Genre: an art club gag reel, Hidamari Sketch but much better

Suggestive Content:

Some older kid humor and a little language (based on the subber.)

Rating:

Animation: 7/10

Characters: 7/10 – Enjoyable if not original

Writing: 6/10 – Rapid fire gags – Lucky Star fans rejoice

Pacing: 6/10

Enjoyment: 9/10

First Look @ Kanamemo

Episode 01 (7/10 Above Average)

Impression:

As you can tell from the Rating section, I’m a bit split over this. I will never continue watching this show because of the blatant inappropriate content that conflict with what I believe God wants for my mind and soul. However, I will credit where credit is due: I liked the artwork and coloring; some of the characters are interesting; the concept of a young girl joining a newspaper delivery after her grandmother died has potential. All of this is spoiled by this show’s ambition to pander to the sexual fetishes of the viewers. It’s very obvious for which audience they’re writing. Simple jokes, non sequitur, and sexual humor take over and the writing isn’t at all worth wading through the debris.

Genre: a shameful lolicon, yuri, ecchi fest not worth my intelligence

Suggestive Content:

I can’t under any circumstances recommend this show to anyone. There is a homosexual couple who openly kiss/touch as well as a lesbian child molester who constantly gropes and fondles the little girls in the show. A brief bath scene and drinking.
